MPD: Man punched, left unconscious on State Street

MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Police Department responded to the report of a male who was punched and left unconscious early Sunday morning on State Street.

Police arrived to the 200 block of State Street for a battery shortly before 2:00 a.m.

According to officers, the 29-year-old victim was found unconscious in the street. Police say the man was breathing but had serious injuries. He was taken to a local hospital.

Witnesses said the suspect punched the 29-year-old then the victim landed on the ground. The suspect then left the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
