MPD investigates string of thefts from vehicles

Madison police are investigating a string of similar thefts in a near west side neighborhood, according to a release.

Police have received reports of nine similar crimes in the neighborhoods between South Midvale Boulevard and Seminole Highway and south of the Beltline, between Seminole Highway and Fish Hatchery Road, officials said.

Residents have told police unlocked vehicles have been ransacked between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., according to the release.

Thieves have been walking away with numerous items, including running shoes, money, electronics and sports equipment, police said.

The thefts have been reported on Waban Hill, Chippewa Drive, Shawnee Pass, Hiawatha Drive, Curry Parkway and Coho Street.
