MPD confiscates handgun at La Follette High School, 3 arrested

Madison police confiscated a handgun that a student brought to La Follette High School on Monday and arrested three teens on Wednesday.
Police believe the gun was at the school on more than one occasion, and was handled by more than one student.
A concerned parent became aware of the situation Tuesday night via social media, according to a release. The parent contacted the school, and Madison police were notified. The parent turned over the weapon to the school’s educational resource officer on Tuesday morning.
Tyrone A. Hogans, Jr., 17, of Madison and a 16-year-old Madison boy were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm on school grounds. Another 16-year-old Madison boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a person under age 18.
MPD is working with the Madison Metropolitan School District on the incident.
