Mother gets 5 years prison in toddler’s methadone death

A Beloit woman whose 1-year-old daughter died from ingesting methadone was sentenced to five years in prison, court records showed.

Tallie J. Strommen, 24, was sentenced Monday in Rock County Court to five years of extended supervision in addition to five years in prison for the death of her 13-month-old daughter in 2013.

She has pleaded guilty to child neglect causing death.

According to the criminal complaint, Strommen tried to get the baby to go to sleep by biting a piece of a methadone tablet off and giving it to the child.

Her mother, Tina Strommen, will be sentenced in April. She pleaded guilty to delivering methadone to her daughter.

Online court records showed Tallie Strommen will receive credit for 384 days served as of Monday.
