Monona Memorial Day Parade returns to Monona Drive on Monday

MONONA, Wis. — The City of Monona will honor military members who have served or are serving Monday with a Memorial Day Parade.

The city claims the parade is the largest and longest-running Memorial Day parade in the state. The 1.5-mile route will start near Monona Grove High School, head south down Monona Drive, then left onto Pflaum Road ending near Sennett Middle School.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. Because of the event, Monona Drive will be closed from Winnequah Road to Nichols Road on Monday from 9 a.m. to noon.

There will also be memorial ceremonies held before the parade at the following locations:

  • Monona Grove High School, 9:30 a.m.
  • Blooming Grove Cemetery, 11:15 a.m.
  • Roselawn Memorial Cemetery, 12 noon
  • Highland Memory Gardens, 1 p.m.
  • Madison Veteran’s Park 2 p.m.
  • VFW Post #7591, 3 p.m.
