Monona Grove beats Edgewood 56-43
Stoughton stuns Oregon 50-49

MADISON, Wis. — Monona Grove had a chance to clinch the Badger South Conference Tuesday. All they needed was to win at Edgewood and for Stoughton to upset Oregon. They got both. MG beat Edgewood 56-43 and Stoughton scored the win on the road 50-49.
At Edgewood, the Silver Eagles and Crusaders traded blows for much of the first half. The two teams were tied 22-22 at halftime and 28-28 in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Monona Grove pulled away to win 56-43. Taylor Nelson led the way with 19 points and Alexa Kelsey chipped in with 14.
In Oregon, the game was secondary to the Rivals Unite theme that saw the Panthers and Vikings put on a fund raiser for Verona’s Ebony Nettles-Bey, a 17 year old battling cancer.
The game turned out to be a nail-biter as Stoughton scored a big road win 50-49.
With the loss, Oregon, who beat Monona Grove earlier this season, falls to 8-3 in the conference. Monona Grove improves to 9-1 and clinches the Badger South Title.
