MMSD releases first report on strategic framework

The Madison Metropolitan School District released its first annual report Monday detailing progress on the district’s strategic framework geared at raising achievement and closing opportunity gaps, according to a release.

The annual report details the district’s progress over the last school year in each part of the strategic framework and measures student achievement outcomes, officials said. At the elementary level the district saw consistent improvement in student achievement measures across student groups. At the middle and high school levels, the district saw improvement in many measures and saw indicators of future success.

“Not only have we built a strong foundation for our future success, but we are starting to see promising results already,” MMSD Superintendent Jennifer Cheatham said. “We want to publicly thank all of our staff for their hard work this past year, especially those who serve our students directly in the classroom.”

Cheatham said the district is on the right track with a strategy that includes three specific goals.

The first is making sure every student is making progress toward graduation. The next one is to make sure every student has access to a challenging and well-rounded education by tracking its programs better. And third that students, parents and staff have a customer service oriented school system.
