Missing 2-Year-Old Found Safe In Chicago

A 2-year-old girl from Racine was found safe in Chicago after her mother was found dead in their Racine home.

Authorities issued an Amber Alert for Iryana Vaughn and her 25-year-old father, Irywin, after officers found the child’s mother dead at about 11 p.m. Tuesday in Racine.earlier Wednesday.

Chicago police spokesman Robert Perez said the girl was found unharmed and the father was arrested at a south side residence shortly before 6 a.m. on Wednesday. Perez said officers were checking the address of a relative provided by Racine police.

The 27-year-old woman’s death is being investigated as a homicide. Police said Vaughn is considered a person of interest.
