Mineral Point wins D3 State Championship
Defeats Kenosha St. Joseph's 7-2

MADISON, Wis. — Mineral Point softball had never won a game at state. The Pointers hadn’t been to state in 30 years. It didn’t matter once they took the field at Goodman Diamond. The Pointers rolled to a 7-2 victory over Kenosha St. Joseph’s in the WIAA Division Three State Championship.
The Lady Lancers struck first, hanging up two runs to put the Pointers in a 2-0 hole.
From there, Lancers pitcher Maddie Chase had a frustrating day. Chase was called for 13 illegal pitches, costing the Lancers several runs.
Heading into the third tied at two, Mineral Point blew the game wide open, scoring four runs and taking a commanding 6-2 lead. Mineral Point pitcher Beth Woods took control from there as the Pointers won 7-2.
