MADISON, Wis. — The Middleton High School band will be traveling to London, to perform in a New Year’s Day parade.
The band was in the same parade four years ago. This year, it will be accompanied by the Middleton High School choir, orchestra and theater departments.
The band will march in the New Year’s Day Parade, which is said to be a combination of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and Times Square on New Year’s Eve.
The choir and orchestra will be in a concert of their own, and the drama students will get to soak in the London theater experience.
Local businesses played a big role in making this dream come true for the high schoolers.
“They really stepped up and fully funded our trip grant for the kids that needed a little extra help to make this possible,” said Brad Schneider, the Middleton High School band director.
It costs around $3,000 per student and around 65 chaperones are along for the ride.
