Middleton Girls Basketball Team Heads Back To WIAA Semifinals

A familiar face is back at the Kohl Center this year for the WIAA girls basketball tournament.

The Middleton High School Cardinals will make their fifth-straight appearance Friday night in the WIAA Division 1 semifinals against Milwaukee King.

The Cardinals finished second at state last year and lost some key seniors from that team.

Some people didn’t think they team would get back in the tourney, but they proved them wrong.

“I know coming into this season people had doubts about us,” said Middleton senior Madeline Staples. “For me, that gives me motivation just to find prove those people wrong and we are back so it feels awesome.”

“It’s been a tough road for this group because we lost a lot of seniors and they have worked really really hard,” said head coach Jeff Kind. “(But they) kept their intensity the whole year and just kept working and working so they deserve everything they are getting right now.”

Friday’s game will start around 8:15 p.m.
