Michigan State’s Nix Suspended Following Arrest
Michigan State center Derrick Nix has been suspended indefinitely from the basketball team after his arrest early Tuesday on suspicion of operating a vehicle with any presence of drugs and possession of marijuana.
According to a district court in East Lansing, Nix was arrested about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday. Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said in a statement that Nix’s future with the team is in jeopardy.
Nix averaged 8.1 points this season as a junior and his improvement was a big reason why Michigan State tied for first in the Big Ten and won the conference tournament. The Spartans lost in the NCAA round of 16.
