Michel leads Madison City Junior Golf

First round 69 at Pleasant View

MIDDLETON — Jacob Michel shot three-under-par 69 to take the first round lead at the Madison City Junior Golf Tournament at Pleasant View Golf Course Thursday.

Michel, playing in the 15-16 year old boys division, had five birdies and two bogeys to take a one-shot lead on Max Murphy after the first 18 holes.

Verona’s Rachel Hernandez shot one-over 73 to lead the girls competition. Defending champion Loren Skibba fired a 74 in the opening round.

The final round is Friday at The Oaks in Cottage Grove.
