Margie Hunter: Leaving job will be bittersweet
Meriter nurse retires after 46 years

After 46 years of service a Meriter Hospital employee is finally saying goodbye.

Margie Hunter became a surgical technician with the hospital in 1968. She decided to get into the business of helping others after growing up with a sister with cerebral palsy.

In addition to her work at Meriter, Hunter worked in South America scrubbing in on countless surgeries for children.

She said her departure is bittersweet.

“One of the hardest things that I will ever have to do is leave here because I really loved my job. I loved coming to work every day. I loved all of the different challenges I went through,” Hunter said.

She said she plans to spend her new found free time volunteering for Madison Dentistry Intervention and the local Boys and Girls Club.
