Memorial, Waunakee earn wins in 1st day of state tennis
Clack scores upset

MADISON, Wis. — Day one of state tennis is in the books from the Nielsen Tennis Complex.
Locally, Calvin Clack of Waunakee scored an upset, defeating West De Pere’s Jack Dykema. Clack lost the first set via tie breaker, won the second set via tie breaker, then, per WIAA state rules, won the third set tie breaker.
Clack will face Verona’s Brian Davenport Friday at 10 am.
In D1 Doubles action, William Xiang and Jamy Dennis of Memorial dominated the duo of Start Nett and Matt Riley of Fond du Lac 6-2, 6-2.
Xiang and Dennis will play Michael Ebsen and David Sinense of Marquette University High School.
