Memorial at Capitol remembers those lost to suicide

MADISON, Wis. — A solemn memorial at the state Capitol Wednesday remembered those lost to suicide for National Suicide Awareness Month.
Nearly 1,000 shoes lined the Capitol’s steps. Each pair represents a person in Wisconsin lost to suicide in the last year.
Suicide is the second leading cause of death for youth, with a person dying every 13 minutes in the United States.
Experts say for every one suicide, 115 people are affected.
