Medical technology company to close Monona facility
135 employees will be affected by closing
MONONA, Wis. — BD, a medical technology company, said it plans to close its Monona facility by March 2014, affecting 135 employees in the Madison area.
The company is consolidating its diagnostics unit, which makes products for diagnosing infectious diseases, at a facility in Baltimore, Md.
The 135 jobs will be phased out, with most of them scheduled to end in 2014, Colleen White, a company spokeswoman, told WISC-TV.
“The decision to close the Madison plant was a difficult, but necessary, business decision. BD is making every effort to treat the affected employees with the respect they deserve. In addition to severance, these employees will receive career transition assistance and other support,” White said in a statement.
