Medical Society Asks Walker To Veto Abortion Bill

The Wisconsin Medical Society is asking Gov. Scott Walker to veto a bill that will add new requirements for doctors to ensure a woman isn’t forced into an abortion.

The Medical Society released its letter Tuesday. The group says the overreaching bill passed by the Republican-controlled state Legislature earlier this month will infringe on the physician-patient relationship.

Walker’s spokesman Cullen Werwie said the governor is still evaluating the bill as well as others passed in the legislative session that adjourned last week. Walker has until April 12 to sign or veto the bills before they automatically become law.

The Wisconsin Medical Society is the largest association of medical doctors statewide with 12,000 members.
