McFarland fundraisers ‘Walk 4 Water’ to support Uganda
MCFARLAND, Wis. — Volunteers in McFarland spent their Saturday walking to bring safe drinking water to Africa.
The “Walk 4 Water” event was put on by the McFarland Lutheran Church and Hope 4 Kids International. The goal is to bring clean water to a remote village in Uganda.
Participants walked three miles, starting from McDaniel Park and continuing on the boardwalk along Lake Waubesa. The distance of the walk represents the length some Ugandan women and children have to travel each day to collect water.
“Water is such a basic right,” Walk 4 Water chair Gudren Sindermann said. “It’s something we take so for granted in the United States.”
The church already reached its $12,000 fundraising goal ahead of Saturday’s walk.
