Mayoral candidates’ willingness to participate in debates is impressive

We have been very impressed, and we want to publically thank, Mayor Paul Soglin and Madison Alderman Scott Resnick for their commitment to the citizens of this city displayed by their willingness to engage with each other in public debates.
In an unfortunately increasingly rare showing of integrity and responsible leadership, Soglin and Resnick have seemingly accepted every invitation offered them to talk about their candidacies for mayor and to answer questions from voters.
They’ve talked about their records, addressed our most pressing issues, made promises and been willing to respectfully express honest disagreements. And we the citizens of this city are better for it.
There are more debates coming up, including March 12 at the Urban League of Greater Madison, and March 18 at Rotary. And WISC-TV will be hosting a live, televised debate at 7 p.m. on March 24.
But on behalf of all of us who care about this city, thanks. You’ve earned our attention and our votes.
