Mary J. Wepking

Mary J. Wepking, age 88, of Highland, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Bloomfield Healthcare & Rehab following a long illness.

Mary was born on April 7, 1929 in Highland Township to Charles and Florence (Hasburgh) Scullion. She was a 1947 graduate of the Highland High School. She married the Cyril Wepking of Highland on August 12, 1950. The couple farmed in Highland Township until shortly before his death on August 17, 2014. Mary’s passion was her husband and her boys. There was never a meal that was not overflowing with something she just baked or “just threw together” as she would say. She made sure they never did without. Mary loved music and loved her trips to town, where she and Cyril would meet with relatives to have a beer and listen to the juke box before it was time to go back to the chores on the farm. Her sense of humor was always present and she was always quick to say something funny. Mary was a very supportive, kind person who had everyone’s best interest in mind.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Tom (Dorothy) Scullion and Michael (Joan) Scullion; a sister, Helen “Nellie” Prochaska-Waggett (Bob Prochaska, George Waggett); four brothers-in-law, Lenus Wepking, Leroy “Slug” Wepking; Byron Wepking and Jerry Sorge; and three sisters-in-law, Eileen (Kenneth) Gundlach; Ena (Donald) Kusz and Norma (Don) Michek.

Mary is survived by four sons, Brian (Anita) of Platteville; Bruce (Vicki) of Allenton;
Dana of Highland and David (Melanie) of Mukwonago; eight grandchildren, Carissa (Kurt) Menke; Cody Wepking; Eric (Jessica) Zeller; Kari Zeller; Matthew (Lisa) Wepking; Jacob (Alex) Wepking; Jack Wepking and Madelyn Wepking; five great grandchildren, Alyssa, Avaree, Audree, Lucas and Estie; a brother, Bill (JohnAnne) Scullion of Highland; two brothers-in-law, Phillip “Max” (Sharon) Wepking and Paul (Sharon) Wepking, both of Paddock Lake; two sisters-in-law, Mary Wepking and Donna Sorge, both of Highland as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, September 11, 2017 at the McGuire-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home in Highland with Pastor Droste officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday after 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association would be greatly appreciated.
