Mary Ann Furstenberg

Mary Ann Furstenberg, age 87, passed away on Monday June 25, 2012 in Mankato, Minnesota. Mary was born in Madison on March 25, 1925 to John and Amanda (Sveum) Klingelhofer.
She graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1946 with a degree from the College of Education. She taught high school English for several years. On June 15, 1951 she married the love of her life and her best friend, Donald Furstenberg. Their life together found them living in Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota and Florida, traveling to many other states and traveling abroad. Mary and Don were active throughout their life together in the University of Wisconsin Alumni Association. Mary was also and avid bridge player and enthusiastic bowler. She was always active in her church Bible study groups and in many other church activities.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Janice Fontanez of McHenry , IL and Julie (Karl) Kroeger of Mankato, MN; four grandchildren, Amanda (Will) Hager, Jennifer Fontanez, Joseph Kroeger and Jill Kroeger; niece Barbara (Howard) Cobb and nephew John (Patty) Nolan and their daughters, Rachel and Megan; also several cousins in Stoughton. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Donald in 2009.
Funeral services will be held on Sat. June 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church 701 S. Century Ave Waunakee, Rev. Kirsten Fryer will preside. Friends may call at the church on Sat. from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in Vienna Cemetery.
