Marklein decares victory over Bomhack in 17th Senate District
MADISON, Wis. — Howard Marklein has declared victory over Pat Bomhack in the 17th Senate District race.
Democrats had targeted the 17th Senate District in southwestern Wisconsin, where Republican incumbent Dale Schultz decided not to run again after butting heads with party bosses.
The democratic primary between Bomhack and Ernie Wittwer ended in a recount, but ultimately named Bomhack as the winner.
Marklein said his business background of years in the private sector have helped him in the state Assembly and would translate to the Senate seat.
Bomhack said his experience in law school will help him focus on bipartisanship in the Senate, something he thinks is lacking.
