Marion V. Ryan

MCFARLAND-Marion V. Ryan, age 87, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016, at UW Hospital Cardiac Unit.
She was born on June 16, 1928, to Thomas and Vila Williams. Marion grew up on a farm outside Ridgeway, Wis. She graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1945, as the valedictorian of her class. Marion then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, seeking a degree in Home Economics. She married Leroy Ryan on June 24, 1950, in Pine Bluff, Wis. They made their home in Monona, Wis., until 2008, when Marion moved to McFarland.
Marion is survived by her three children, Patrick of Oxford, Wis., Michael (Patricia) of Stoughton, and Mary (Dennis) Jorenby of Madison; four grandchildren, Nathan Ryan of Orlando, Fla., Shannon Balousek of Middleton, Robert (Megan Repp) Jorenby of Madison, and Ross (Jenelle) Jorenby of Waconia, Minn.; three great-grandchildren, Tobias, Travis, and Arielle; three sisters-in-law, MaryEllen Parrell, Violet Ryan, and Pauline Ryan; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; parents, Earl and Vila; two brothers, Ralph and Paul; and a sister, Genevieve Hanson.
Marion will be missed for her big heart, always willing to help out. Sitting by a bedside, giving someone a ride, taking in a homeless pet or giving away her last dollar. Marion liked family history and spent many hours doing research. She also loved photography and was always taking pictures.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Sunday. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Mount Horeb, Wis.
