MADISON-Marilyn Ava Niebuhr, 80, of Madison, passed on to be reunited with loved ones on Jan. 23, 2013, at Sienna Meadows. Born on Nov. 18, 1932, in Madison, to Theodore and Harriet Oliver. Graduating from Madison West High, Marilyn married Bernard Reilly and later married George Niebuhr Jr.

She is survived by her children Mark (Kathy) Reilly, Dianne Turner, Steven (Brenda) Reilly, Cheryl Murray, Tammy Downing, 12 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore & Ruth Oliver, and Harriet & Alfons Eiseman; her daughter, Lisa Marie Niebuhr; and her brother, Allen Oliver.

Marilyn was employed as a meticulous bookkeeper, and cheerful waitress at various businesses in the Madison area, and managed Monona Meadows before retiring. She loved working in her yard and garden, and was known for her generous gifting of her canned vegetables and preserves, especially her raspberry jam. She also enjoyed dancing, crafts, and watching the UW Badgers sports. Marilyn was very active in her service at Lake Edge UCC and enjoyed a mission trip to Kenya. She was a tireless volunteer for many community organizations including, Madison Scouts, W.P.N.A. and Central Wisconsin Center. Above all she was an ever thankful, loving Christian mother who cherished her family, and we are all better persons from having known her.

Memorial services will be held at LAKE EDGE UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 4200 Buckeye Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, with Pastor Lex Liberatore officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made in Marilyn’s honor to Agrace Hospice Care and/or Alzheimer & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin. Cremation will be accorded by Gunderson Funeral and Cremation Center.
