MADISON – Marian Lillian Frank, age 76, passed away in her home on May 2, 2021, surrounded by her loving children. She was born on August 2, 1944 in Evergreen Park, IL to parents Charles and Magdalene (Mensik) Vlk.
Marian was a graduate of Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School in Chicago, IL. After high school, Marian enjoyed working at the railroad and Wrigley Chewing Gum company. After moving to Wisconsin, she started a family and worked various part time jobs selling Home Interiors, Stanley Products, and Avon, as well as volunteering at her children’s school, St. Jerome’s, teaching crafts and helping with events. In 1983, she moved her family to Madison where she attended Madison Area Technical College before beginning a career with the State of Wisconsin for many years, eventually retiring as a Case Assistant from the Wisconsin Department of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Marian was a dedicated and loving single mother who took pride in purchasing a home for her family. She had numerous favorite hobbies, including sewing, gardening, and floral arranging. She was trained at the Wilson Cake Decorating school in Illinois and enjoyed using her talents baking and decorating cakes. She was an animal lover, surrounding herself with dogs, cats, rabbits, even an albino rat, and always had peanuts on hand for feeding the squirrels, chipmunks and raccoons.
Of all Marian’s attributes and interests, there was nothing she cherished more than the magical Christmas season. She loved decorating, baking cookies, and listening to holiday music. In her late years her home remained Christmas all year long. Her giving spirit was expressed year-round by her love of thoughtful gift giving to honor her family and friends. She will be dearly missed and remembered as a caring and good friend.
