Man threatens people in apartment with box cutter

A man forced his way into an apartment and threatened the occupants with a box cutter early Thursday morning, according to a release from Fitchburg police.

Police were called to the 2100 block of High Ridge Trail at 2:15 a.m. for a report of an armed burglary.

Investigators said the man appeared to be looking for someone in particular and left after realizing they were not there. He took an undisclosed amount of money.

The man is described as black, between 20-30 years old, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall with a slender build, stubble facial hair and short dreadlocks. He was wearing a red, white and blue baseball hat, a red shirt with numbers or a symbol on the front, dark-colored jeans and white shoes.

Madison police and a K-9 assisted in the investigation.
