Man suspected of gas station robbery in custody, police say

A Beaver Dam man faces charges for allegedly robbing a gas station in December.

Deputies responded Dec. 8 to a report of a robbery at the BP gas station at 1112 Madison St. in the town of Beaver Dam.

The suspected robber, 33-year-old Joshua J. Benson, of Beaver Dam, wore a face mask, displayed a weapon and stole an undisclosed amount of cash, authorities said. He fled on foot and was last seen headed west on Lake Crest Drive in the city of Beaver Dam.

Benson was arrested on unrelated charges, but faces a tentative charge of robbery with the use of a dangerous weapon in connection with the gas station robbery.

The gas station owners offered a reward to find the robber, but deputies said the reward didn’t lead to any information that resulted in Benson’s arrest.
