Man sentenced to 3 years probation in child sex case

A Madison man was sentenced to three years probation Tuesday after a plea deal in a sexual assault case.

Anthony Turnbill, 37, of Madison, pleaded guilty to three misdemeanors and was sentenced to three years probation Tuesday.

Turnbill had been charged with felony repeated sexual assault of a child in October 2013. At a motion hearing Tuesday, Turnbill pleaded guilty to fourth-degree sexual assault and two counts of child neglect.

Turnbill’s 19-year-old son, Tyler Turnbill, pleaded guilty on May 18 to felony third-degree sexual assault, misdemeanor fourth-degree sexual assault and battery charges in a cross-referenced case. Tyler Turnbill was also sentenced to three years of probation.

In an unrelated case, Anthony Turnbill’s 5-year-old son Brayden Turnbill died after he was found suffering serious head injuries in the basement of his mother’s home in October 2013. The man charged with Brayden Turnbill’s homicide, Dakota Black, is expected in court this week on a forgery case.
