Man pistol-whipped in botched armed robbery, police say

MADISON, Wis. — A Madison man told police he was pistol whipped by an acquaintance early Sunday morning during a botched armed robbery, according to a release.
The 24-year-old told police he and an acquaintance bumped into one another in the parking lot of Woodman’s at 3817 Milwaukee Street. The 24-year-old said the other person got into his SUV to talk, but then pulled out a weapon and demanded money.
The 24-year-old said he was hit in the head by an object as he jumped from the driver’s seat, according to the release.
The other man, who fled empty-handed, has not been located, police said.
