One person was injured Wednesday night when a propane tank ruptured, causing an explosion, according to a release.

Firefighters were sent around 11:15 p.m. to the 50 block of Corry Street for a reported explosion, officials said.

Madison police said a beam fell while a man was working, which caused a propane tank to rupture.

Crews said the man was alone in the metal hut structure at the time of the explosion. He was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Firefighters put out a small amount of flames and determined there were no more hot spots, according to the release.

Investigators said the explosion did compromise the integrity of the building.

The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
