Ex-deputy accused of sex assault of teen gets prison time

A 44-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison for the beating death of a man at a central Wisconsin hotel.

Oshkosh Northwestern Media reported after deliberating less than two hours, a Waushara County jury found Travis Petersen guilty last week of first-degree intentional homicide in connection to the death of 50-year-old Robert Kasun.

Petersen was immediately sentenced to life with no possibility of extended supervision.

Kasun was found dead at the Mount Morris Hotel in the town of Mount Morris in March of 2013.

According to court documents, Kasun died from blunt force trauma that included a fractured skull, 10 broken rib bones and a severed aorta.

Petersen lived in the room next door to Kasun and investigators found Kasun’s blood in Petersen’s room.
