Man gets 11th citation for driving without license

A Platteville man was cited for the 11th time for driving a vehicle with a revoked license after police stopped him Thursday morning for allegedly driving a stolen vehicle.

Around 7:40 a.m. police went to an apartment at 600 Main St. for a report of a stolen vehicle, official said. The vehicle was described as a maroon 1995 Oldsmobile Ciera SL four-door sedan.

The person reporting the stolen vehicle told police the vehicle was last seen parked in the lot of the apartment complex Wednesday at 6 p.m., according to the release.

Just before 11 a.m. a Linden police officer was on a routine patrol when he noticed a vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle going east on Highway 39, police said. The officer made a traffic stop and identified the person driving as Mickey Fuerstenberg, 45, of Platteville.

Fuerstenberg was subsequently cited for 11th-offense operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license and operating a motor vehicle without insurance, officials said. Fuerstenberg was also taken into custody on an outstanding warrant from Grant County.

Linden police will refer possible charges against Fuerstenberg of operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent to the Iowa County District Attorney’s Office.
