Man drunkenly threatens to burn down Broom Street home
Police: 32-year-old found incoherent a couple blocks away
MADISON, Wis. — Madison police said alcohol was definitely a factor in a disturbance where a man allegedly attacked a person and threatened another group of people Saturday night.
Madison police responded to the 300 block of South Broom Street just before 11:30 p.m. for reports of a fight that happened in the area, according to a release.
Randall Wittman, 32, reportedly walked up to a residence and challenged the victims to try and stop him from entering, officers said. The residents had never seen Wittman before, and got concerned when he started to make threats to burn the house down and kill everyone.
The residents told police as he was leaving Wittman walked down a nearby pathway and knocked over several mopeds.
As officers were interviewing the victims a pedestrian walked up to report a person passed out a few blocks away who matched the description of Wittman, according to the release. Officers went to the 400 block of West Washington Avenue and found an incoherent and wavering Wittman.
Wittman was unable to answer questions and was having difficulty standing, police said.
According to the release, Wittman had also come in contact with another victim, who he allegedly attacked.
Wittman was arrested on tentative disorderly conduct charge.
