Man crashes stolen vehicle into tree in SE Madison, police say

MADISON, Wis. — A 20-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after police said he crashed a stolen vehicle into a tree on Madison’s southeast side.
In an incident report posted Thursday afternoon, Madison Police Department spokesperson Stephanie Fryer said the crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Marsh and Voges roads.
Witnesses told police where they last saw the man, and officers tracked him to a nearby home.
When the man saw officers arrive, he reportedly jumped out of a window. He wasn’t hurt and was arrested on tentative charges of operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, bail jumping and damage to property.
The report did not say what kind of vehicle was stolen or where it was taken from.
