Man chases suspected OWI driver after hit-and-run

A man whose car was struck in a hit-and-run crash chased the car that struck his and a suspected drunken driver was arrested, according to a release from Madison police.

Police said an officer in a squad car saw the car chasing the other car on Yuma Drive after 6 p.m. Wednesday and pulled them over. The man whose car was struck was honking his horn and waving out his window to get the officer’s attention.

The 33-year-old victim told police he was rear-ended as he was stopped at the intersection of Seminole Highway and Nakoma Road.

Police said empty beer cans were found in the car of Pablo Valdez-Lopez, 27, of Madison. He was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run, operating while intoxicated and for having open intoxicants in a vehicle.
