Man charged in toddler’s death to stand trial

The 21-year-old Milwaukee man charged in the shooting death of a toddler will stand trial.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Darmequaye Cohill faces charges of first-degree reckless homicide and first-degree recklessly endangering safety, as a party to the crime, in connection with the death of 13-month-old Bill Thao.
Cohill was ordered to stand trial during a preliminary hearing Thursday. At the hearing, his attorney, Craig Powell, questioned the credibility of some of the witnesses. Court Commissioner Rosa Barillas still bound Cohill over for trial.
According to the criminal complaint, Cohill and possibly others mistakenly shot into a Milwaukee duplex over a drug-related dispute last month, killing the boy who was playing with his toys in the living room.
His bail was set at $500,000 last weekend.
