Man charged in newborn son’s death back in court

JANESVILLE, Wis. — A man charged in his newborn son’s death was back in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.
Deanthony Hodges, 32, was watching his son last month when he sent the baby’s mom a text saying the boy wasn’t doing well.
The baby was taken to the hospital, where doctors said he had significant head trauma. The 7-week-old later died.
Hodges and the baby’s mother were previously investigated for child abuse, but they were cleared in that case.
Hodges will be back in court May 2.
