Man charged in Brittany Zimmermann homicide ruled competent to stand trial

MADISON, Wis. — The man accused of killing a University of Wisconsin-Madison student in 2008 was ruled competent to stand trial Thursday.
David Kahl, 55, was charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of 21-year-old Brittany Zimmermann.
Kahl is serving a prison sentence at Oshkosh Correctional Institution for a seventh-offense drunken driving conviction. He is expected to be back in court next month.
