Man attempted to kidnap woman after hit-and-run, police say

MONROE COUNTY, Wis. — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says they’re looking for a man who attempted to kidnap a woman after being involved in a vehicle crash with her Monday morning on County Highway O just north of Destiny Ave. in the Township of Lincoln.

The suspect is described as a white man, possibly age 18 to 25 with short spiky hair. Authorities say he was also described as wearing a white, zip-up hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and boots.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said after the crash, the man tried to force the woman of the other vehicle into his car. The woman was able to escape and ran to a nearby house to get help by no one answered the door. She was able to get help from another vehicle that drove by, authorities said.

Earlier that morning, Tomah police received a report of a person in a vehicle described like the one the suspect drove during he hit-and-run incident. Police say a man pulled in behind her on Flicker Road wanting directions and then wanted her to show him where. The man made a sexual comment to the woman as she was walking away from the man and then he left, police said.  Police are not sure if this incident is related to the hit-and-run, but the vehicle description was similar.

Later that day, Tomah police recovered a stolen vehicle. The sheriff’s office believes that the stolen vehicle that police recovered is probably the same vehicle from the crash/attempted kidnapping incident.
