MAMAs announces new executive director

The Madison Area Music Association announced Tuesday Curt Davies will be taking over as the organization’s executive director.
Rick Tvedt created an award show in August of 2003 that would fund music education programs and provide musical instruments for Madison-area youths, according to a release. With the awards in their 12th year, Tvedt is stepping down as executive director of the MAMAs.
Davies is a Madison-based consultant with the automotive industry who also presides over Backstage Vibe, an online resource that assists its clients in music promotion and other aspects of the business, according to the release.
“Curt is a very organized and capable individual,” Tvedt said in the release. “He has the business acumen to take our nonprofit to the next level. I’ve always worried about the future of the MAMAs should something happen to me. I’m very happy that Curt has come along and agreed to step up. The MAMAs have become ingrained in the hearts and minds of the residents of Madison, and it is extremely gratifying to know that it will live on beyond me.”
Davies said it is an honor to be part of such a giving and important organization.
Tvedt will remain on the board of directors and is currently serving as treasurer, according to the release. He is also accountant for the organization.
This year’s MAMAs will be July 12 in the Capitol Theater at the Overture Center.
