Mallards top Dock Spiders, clinch playoff spot

MADISON, Wis. — It came down to the final game of the regular season, but the Mallards clinched a spot in the Northwoods League playoffs thanks to win over the Dock Spiders on Saturday night.

The Mallards put up 5 runs in the bottom of the first inning and then had another big inning in the 4th where they plated 4 to finish as the second-half champions of the Great Lakes West division.

Up next for Madison: a best-of-three series against Fond du Lac in the first round of the Northwoods League playoffs.
