Mae Freitag

Mae Freitag, age 89 of Monticello, died Monday, February 18, 2013, at Azura Memory Care, Monroe.
Mae was born April 21, 1923, in Martintown, WI, the daughter of Jay and Maggie (Smith) Donmeyer. She graduated from Monroe High School. Mae married Karl H. Freitag on August 19, 1944 at Camp Blanding, FL.
Mae and Karl raised two sons, Dr. Terry (Marilyn) Freitag of Monticello and Dr. Rick (Roberta) Freitag of Birchwood, WI. She was the proud grandmother of Todd (Leidiana) Freitag, Angella (Thomas) Axelson, Dr. Brad (Deborah) Freitag, Tyler Freitag, Kristi (Eric) Barclay, and Kevin Freitag; and great grandmother of Hailey Freitag, Sophia Freitag, Analiese Axelson, Aubriana Axelson, Macey and Drew Freitag.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Karl, on Jan. 6, 2009; three brothers, Ken, John, and Ralph Donmeyer; and three sisters, Leona Lindsay, Lita Huffman, and Marge Anderson.
She was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello. She loved her family dearly and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed the years she and Karl lived in The Villages of Lady Lake, FL.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 11 a.m., at the Voegeli-Newcomer Funeral Home, Monticello, with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be given in Mae’s name to the Monticello Foundation, Monticello Public Library, or charity of one’s choice.
