Madison Students Enjoy Day Of Winter Fun
Madison students enjoyed a snow day on Friday — so to speak.
Classes for the Madison Metropolitan School District were canceled because of a planned teacher instruction day.
And with the day off, many students took time to enjoy the snow that fell overnight.
The hill at Elver Park on the city’s far West Side is typically a winter hot spot. But the large hill hasn’t seen much action this winter due to lack of snowfall.
“It kind of stinks. It’s a little rougher,” laughed one sledder, talking about the size of the steep hill.
“Because I can’t walk really far, it kind of gets me frustrated,” said another sledder.
All Madison parks’ sledding hills are open, as well as the cross-country ski trails, city officials said.
