Madison schools start summer food program

Summer food service provides meals to children in need

The Madison Metropolitan School District’s summer food program provides free meals to low-income children during summer vacation.

Meal service happens Monday through Friday until mid-August.

School district officials said the program is a federally funded program operated nationally by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Under the program all children 18 years of age and under are eligible to receive up to two free meals.

Meals are served at a variety of locations throughout Madison.
