MPD arrests 1, looks for ‘armed and dangerous’ suspect in strip mall shooting

Madison police are still investigating the motives and circumstances surrounding four incidents of shots fired throughout the city Saturday morning.

The first shooting happened around 1 a.m. at 603 State St. when a 25-year-old woman was hit by gunfire inside State Street Brats, officials said.

The woman was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The second incident happened just after 1 a.m. in the 3700 block of East Karstens Drive, according to an alert.

Madison police were called to the north side to investigate a report of gunshots being heard, police said. Officials found evidence that a gun was fired in the area, but no one has reported any injuries or damage from the incident.

The third incident happened around 2:20 a.m. in the 900 block of Rockefeller Lane after a person fired a handgun three to four times, officials said. The shooter fled the area in an older blue or green SUV.

Officers searched the area and found one bullet hole in a vehicle parked close by, but no injuries have been reported, according to a release.

The fourth shooting happened just after noon at a strip mall in the 7800 block of Mineral Point Road.

A 28-year-old Madison man was transported to the hospital after someone opened fire in the parking lot, police said. Officials are looking for a motive, but say the victim was specifically targeted.
