Madison man faces charges following east side pursuit
Man arrested after striking no-parking sign with car, foot chase

MADISON, Wis. — A 29-year-old Madison man faces numerous charges after he was taken into custody following a foot pursuit on the city’s east side Wednesday evening.
The incident started around 11:40 p.m. at the corner of East Washington Avenue and Leanne Road, when a Dane County sheriff’s deputy tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic infraction.
According to the sheriff’s department, the deputy activated his lights and sirens but the man driving the car, Jaime Williams, failed to stop.
The pursuit lasted about a mile before Williams struck a no-parking sign at the intersection of Schemedeman Avenue and Ridgeway Avenue in Madison, according to the sheriff’s department. Deputies said Williams then took off on foot following the accident.
Williams was taken into custody and faces charges including eluding and possession with intent to deliver cocaine, according to the sheriff’s department. No other cars were involved in the crash and no one was injured.
