Madison Man Arrested On 7th OWI Charge
A Madison man was arrested on a charge of seventh-offense operating a vehicle while intoxicated Sunday.
A citizen traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 14 in the township of Rutland called 911 after witnessing a Chevrolet Blazer being driven erratically, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
The citizen followed the vehicle while providing the Dane County Communications Center updates on the driver’s actions and vehicle location, sheriff’s officials said.
Sheriff’s officials said a Dane County deputy ultimately made contact with the driver of the Blazer as he was entering a bar on Roth Street in Madison.
The driver, Daniel Fillbach, 43, of Madison, was eventually arrested on a charge of seventh-offense OWI, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Fillbach was booked into the Dane County Jail, where he will remain until his initial court appearance for the felony charge, the Sheriff’s Office said.
