Madison could see new city logo
A Madison alder is proposing a resolution to adopt the Madison Engineering Department’s logo as the official city of Madison logo.
The current logo uses graphical styles and cursive font from a branding style that is nearly 20 years old, according to the resolution. The buildings on the left-hand side of the logo are not accurate to the current skyline, which dates the logo in terms of construction in the area.
City Engineering has used a logo that is classic, iconic and familiar to the public as seen on bridges, utility covers and other facilities, which also gives it an enduring quality, according to the resolution. The circular logo would replace the current city logo on all stationary, business cards, forms, printed memoranda sheets, official paper, digital communications and vehicles.
Officials said implementation would happen over time as supplies are replenished and would result in no additional costs.
The resolution is being sponsored by Maurice Cheeks, Madison’s District 10 alder.
