Madison announces programs to help residents invest in solar energy

City of Madison officials announced two new solar energy programs aimed at helping residents easily and affordably invest in solar energy.

The city partnered with MadiSUN to help residents go solar together by buying credits as a group.

Another program, with Summit Credit Union, allows people to finance through the new solar energy loan program.

“It’ll be a financial win for those who make the investment in solar,” Madison Mayor Paul Soglin said. “It’ll be a financial win for the community that does not have to deal with the overall health consequences and environmental consequences.”

Rebates for solar installations are also available through the statewide program Focus on Energy and the federal tax credit.
